Children’s Book Week 2021 at Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth

Fri 12 Nov 2021
As Children’s Book Week comes to an end, Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth is proud to continue our tradition of celebrating the love of reading. Our students took part in different activities to reflect on the Children’s Book Week theme: Reading is my Superpower.

Year 8 students stopped by before school to draw some of their favourite book characters.

Lilly wants everyone to read the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series because she finds the characters funny and it’s a really good book!

Student Librarian, Indi-Mai read the first book in Joseph Coelho’s Fairytales Gone Bad series last year and waited patiently for the publication of the second book in the series, Frankenstiltskin. She read it as soon as it arrived and has achieved 100% on the quiz!

Shoba loves that reading gives you the power of knowledge and he learns about mysteries, adventures, and all sorts of new things!

READING IS MY SUPERPOWER:

Vesper, Priscilla, Nathaniel, and Xyiana all shared why Reading is their superpower. It is amazing to see how our students have made the connection to reading for pleasure and life experiences!

The Library is also taking part in the Bookbuzz campaign and will be gifting each of our Y7 and Y8 students with a book of their choosing, we are determined to make sure Every Child is a Reader and will be holding many events throughout the year to support them!
